Emmett Wheatfall, a resident of Portland, Oregon, is a highly regarded poet and recording artist with an impressive list of accomplishments. Nominated twice for the esteemed position of Oregon Poet Laureate, he is the proud recipient of the prestigious 2024 Oregon Poetry Association Patricia Ruth Banta Award. He has recorded 4 albums and 5 singles of poetry spoken to jazz, blues, gospel, and contemporary music. Emmett's influence extends beyond his accolades, as he has delivered keynote addresses at two Annual Conferences of the Oregon Poetry Association and has facilitated workshops at major poetry conferences. In 2020, Corban University produced a captivating nine-part documentary titled "A Brief History," shedding light on Emmett's life and early poetic journey. His works, featured in numerous books and anthologies, have garnered critical praise, with "As Clean as a Bone" emerging as a finalist for both the 2019 Eric Hoffer Award and the da Vinci Eye Award.
